The trial for Takis’ murder has begun

After two postponements, the trial in Samos was finally launched for the murder of the young musician in Santorini.

Early in the morning of Friday 1st September, the mother, brother and aunt of Takis Vazakopoulos, 21, together with their lawyer Alexis Kougias, were found at the Court.

The “friend” of the unfortunate young man is accused of manslaughter intentionally in a calm mental state.

Key witnesses have not appeared in court citing illness and their violent surrender in the coming days is being considered. The Court decided to start the trial with the examination of  the mother of the victim.

Earlier, the tragic mother Maria Damaskinou , with her statements at Tunnel, once again appealed to anyone who knows where her child is buried, to come forward. She stressed that she trusts the Court and hopes to finally find the truth about her son.

The trial was initially postponed last May for the defense counsel who was appointed from the Court to be informed  as the first lawyer of the accused had resigned. There was a second postponement at the end of June, at the request of defense advocates, due to the absence of significant witnesses.

The murder of Takis Vazakopoulos was revealed in Santorini three months after his disappearance on August 7, 2014.

After the uninterrupted search and the revelations of  Tunnel, his Bulgarian friend was called for a new testimony because he fell into contradiction. He committed the crime, but immediately recalled.

He was finally arrested after one year and a half . The body of the unfortunate young man has not been found to date despite research in the dump, but also in other parts of the island.
