In the courtroom on Wednesday 14 November, the main accused did not appear and was represented by his lawyer Manolis Anastassakis.
The procedure continued with the examination of witnesses among whom was the cousin of the victim, Antonia Gounaropoulou.
The sons of the main accused were about to testify, but they did not show up. Their father’s defense counsel said that one did not appear because of illness and the second because he feared for his safety. This has caused the Seat’s reaction.
“But he is a police officer, how is it possible?” Said one of the judges.
The lawyer of the victim’s family, Nikos Roussopoulos, called for their violent surrender, saying: “If they come with escort there will be no problem, because then they will feel safe.”
The legal representative of the Marios family has already called of another key witness in the case, which also did not appear to testify last Monday, 12th of the month.
The request was accepted by the Seat that appointed this witness to be present on Thursday 15 November.
When the hearing began last March, and after resuming from the beginning with a new court synthesis, the mother of Mario Varvara Theodorakis, emotionally pressed, collapsed many times during the examination. She finally finished her testimony last Monday after answering questions from defense lawyers. Shortly before she stepped out of the pitch, the main accused did not hesitate to ask her when they met for the first time. She, with as much strenght as she had left, told him, “Murderer, where is my child?”
Until now, the defendants have not confessed where they have vanished the body of the unlucky Marios .
A basic witness in the court will be Angeliki Nikolouli.
