On Monday, February 24th at the Second Mixed Jury Court of Athens , the two witnesses presented very nervous and fell into contradictions.
After the arrest of their father, when police searched the house, they did not report the existence of two shotguns that were hidden in the attic. They sold the weapons themselves after the arrest of their parents!
As revealed in court the youngest son of the alleged mastermind of the kidnnaping, had in his possession the white Fiat Punto that was used at the abduction and later was found abandoned near Peace and Friendship Stadium . His father who was holding the insurance of the vehicle gave him the car. When the car had a mechanical damage he asked his father for help. His father went to the spot, removed the plates and walked away with his son and left the car there. When he was asked by the court why he did not ask for roadside assistance and mainly why the signs were removed he did not answer . Authorities were looking for the white Fiat Punto which was found at a parking of the Traffic Police.
When the officer was asked by the court how he knew where was the abandoned of Marios at Faliro after the kidnapping and informed the friends of the victim where to find it, he said he was informed by his father. He did not give any answer when he was asked why he did not inform the police to examine the car for any evidence.
In court , emphasis was placed on the fact that police officers sons of the alleged mastermind not warned their service for the kidnapping of Marios despite the fact that they knew about it.
The judges were surprised when they heard the policemen sons to testify that they did not know what was job of their father. The first one knew that he was an employee of the American Embassy, while the other one knew that he worked as a taxi driver.
Their accused parents did not attend the court. The trial will be continuing on Friday, February 28th.
