David – Harrison and Lucrecia Robinson, about 80 years old, disappeared with their blue Opel Agila car, registration number KMT – 7738.
The elderly were lovers of our country and after retiring from their jobs, they decided to leave the chaotic and stressful life in the United States of America and settle permanently in Methoni, from where they disappeared.
They built their house in a deserted location, in Dapia, about sixteen years ago and traveled all over Greece.
David and Lucrisia were especially beloved by the local people, who distinguished them for their tact, education and kindness.
No one knows exactly when they disappeared. Their friend and accountant, who lives in the same area, last spoke to them on Monday 23 January.
She knew something serious was going on when, on February 2nd, she went to their house worried and found the keys outside the garage door – which was unusual for them and the radiator on.
Monday, January 23, was reported to the Authorities and Silver Alert as the date of disappearance.
From the “Tunnel” investigation, it emerged that on Tuesday, January 24, they had appeared at a mobile phone shop in Pylos, where a camera has also recorded them.
A day before, they had bought food and coffee from a supermarket in the same area, paying with their cards. And there they have been recorded by security cameras.
Their daughter, who lives in Washington, in a Facebook post, had expressed the belief that her parents were driven to suicide because of her mother’s recent health problems.
Given this statement, the authorities do not seem to have proceeded with a deeper investigation. The version of suicide was reinforced by a handwritten note, which was found in the office of their home, addressing their daughter and talking about their love for her.
In the show, an alarm was sounded from a tip about an abandoned vehicle in a ditch on the road to Sykia. The residents of the area, as well as the police, clarified that it was not the car of the missing persons.
“My mother was losing her memory and my father wouldn’t leave her for a minute…”
The couple’s daughter, Juliana-Lucrisia Robinson, turned to the “Tunnel” determined to locate her parents alive or dead. All she asks is to know what has happened to them and to put an end to her agony. What he says on the show is moving…
“My parents met in Germany. What connected them was their love for Greece and Greek history. What they did all the time, was save money and travel all over the country, discovering everything. When they retired, they decided they wanted to live the rest of their lives there. They would celebrate their fifty-four years of marriage this year,” he said.
She also spoke about the last communication they had before their traces were lost.
“On January 21st I received an e-mail from my mother regarding some of our financial matters. I then sent her some e-mails during the week, but got no reply. In the meantime, a family friend of ours from Greece contacted me, who informed me that she was trying to locate them and stopped by the house. The car was also missing, but the keys were outside the house. Which worried us a lot, because it’s not something they used to do. The last time there was any movement in their bank account was January 23rd.”
“Vaccine side effects…”
Juliana also mentioned the health problems her mother has been facing lately.
“She recently lost a significant percentage of her mental capacity in a short period of time. She is a great woman, she was a teacher and she loved to learn all the time. Her mind meant everything to her. When he started losing the ability to just read a book or write an e-mail, it was devastating. So they returned to America in the hope that the doctors could do something about it. Unfortunately, they couldn’t really help. They decided to return to Greece and live as long as they had left. At least we hugged and kissed several times before saying goodbye. There is no way they could live without each other. They loved each other so, so much.”
She, visibly moved, made an appeal through the show to locate them.
“Honestly what I fear is that they are dead. Please help me find them, look for them and the car. Even for their lifeless bodies, if something bad has happened to them. Just help me bring my parents back to me… whatever it is…”
“They’ve been robbed or they’ve done something bad to themselves…”
Lina Radou, friend and accountant of the couple, who raised the alarm, spoke on the show, as well as another friend of theirs.
“On January 23rd I spoke to David for the last time and as his wife was ill I rang them again to see what they were doing and it was switched off. In the following days and until the end of the month, it was continuously closed. We were worried and came from home to see what was happening,” said Lina Radu.
“We found the keys left outside the garage and went inside to see what was going on. The house was in perfect condition, the radiator was working and it was as if they had temporarily gone shopping and were coming back. We called their daughter in America to let her know. He told me to go back and look. We went in and started and looked, without touching anything. On the desk where the laptop was, we also found a note that said “Juliana, we love you forever, mom and dad,” he pointed out to the show’s camera.
She also referred to the couple’s desire to go on an excursion.
“When they came from America, I had heard that they wanted to go on a trip to Monemvasia. Their daughter had told me the same thing. We mobilized immediately. We went to the police and we are trying to see what is going on. They are lovable people, so it’s a shame that something happened,” he concluded.
The couple’s friend, Fotis Zombolas, referred to the problems that Lucrisia was facing, after the covid that passed, which had particularly saddened David.
“We were surprised to learn that they are here and missing. There are two possible scenarios. Either they were robbed and kidnapped or they have done something bad on their own…” he said.
“The police are doing an undercover investigation and the citizens don’t know where to look…”
Friends of the missing couple told The Tunnel:
“The police and security came. Apart from the note, we did not find any other sign that testified that they wanted to harm themselves. Maybe they went on a trip to Monemvasia, something happened on the road and they fell off a cliff. From the beginning I informed the police that they were missing in their car. They have looked for the cameras on highways, but they haven’t found it so far,” said Lina Radu.
Their other friend, Fotis Zombolas, characteristically said:
“Police investigations are confidential, while the incident should have become known and the entire people of the wider area should at least be looking for the car. There is a large area with rural roads. Did something happen to them, because two years ago they had a traffic accident on the Methoni – Pylos road. More targeted research should be done in specific areas. It shows that their flight was sudden. What we want to know is if she was also violent. Maybe someone snatched them from the house, abused them and stole them. Apparently the police have so far found no such traces. Therefore, we conclude that they left of their own accord to an unknown destination.”
The couple’s friend, moved, makes an ominous assessment, which also shows how great their love was.
“Because I knew them, my mind goes to the suicide scenario. They were very fond of each other. They were walkers, they went everywhere hand in hand, romantic and I’m very afraid that in the end, we will discover something like that.”
David Harrison Robinson is 1.85 tall, has white hair and used to wear a hat with a big brim. Lucrecia Robinson is 1.50m tall and has gray hair. Both are thin, with brown eyes and do not speak Greek.
