The case of Dionysis Aggelakos, 41, from Tripoli, caused shock, pain and anger for the Greek and German authorities in Frankfurt. Indignation for those who literally made him disappear in the most tragic way: The cremation…
The incredible confusion of the Authorities was revealed when the “Tunnel” was in Tripoli to look for the unfortunate Dionysis.
On February 16, 2019 he traveled via airplane to Frankfurt. He had already found a job in a plastics’ factory, as he told his family, but without telling them his exact place of work.
He talked to his mother every day, but on February 23 their communication suddenly stopped… Nobody knew the tragic end of the lad then. Dionysis was found dead on the bank of a river in the city of Darmstadt near Frankfurt.
His personal documents were found on him, a fact that paved the way for the investigations of the local police. They tried to contact the Greek Consulate in Frankfurt by phone, but no one answered their calls.
One day after the body was found, they sent an e-mail to the Consulate, announcing the inability to communicate. They referred to the death of the Greek citizen Dionysis Aggelakos and stressed the immediate need for contact.
No one from the Consulate sought to find out what was going on and the German police followed the procedure provided in similar cases. They kept the body of the unfortunate Greek in a refrigerator for about six weeks and then proceeded to its cremation.
Tragic irony: In those days Dionysis’s mother visited her daughter who lived in the same city in Germany, waiting for news from her son. Seeing that there was no sign of his life, she returned to Greece and reported his disappearance to the Tripoli Department. EUROPOL was notified and for a year and a half Dionysis Aggelakos’s mother and brothers were looking for him in vain.
They addressed the “Tunnel” and when the show was in Tripoli, then the there were significant developments. The local authorities contacted the Greek Consulate to receive in October 2020 the answer that Dionysis had died of pathological causes in Germany and had been cremated…
“The negligence of the Consulate sent my brother to cremation…”
The brother of the unfortunate young man who was cremated in Germany after six weeks, “by negligence of the Consulate”, harshly “accuses”.
“He left for Germany in order to find a job. A few days later his cell phone was switched off and all communications were lost. It turned out that a week after he went there, he was found dead with all the documents on him. The local authorities carried out the required procedures and informed the Greek Consulate, which, however, did not notify anyone. We were looking for him and while we were waiting for your show to go live, we got the answer we were looking for, for a year and a half. We have all the evidence and we will take legal action against the Consulate, which did not contact the German police. He was cremated without anyone informing us.”
What Dionysis’s mother and relatives said on the camera of “Tunnel”, when they were looking for him with the hope alive:
“He left Tripoli for a better life…”
Relatives of the unfortunate Dionysis, not knowing what had happened, were looking for him in the “Tunnel”. He was described as a generous and cheerful man, a rare child who helped anyone in need.
With tears in his eyes, his mother said how much the loss of his father, a marathon runner and football player from Tripoli, cost him.
“He wanted to move to Germany for a better life. He had been there in the past as well; he also knew the language, so he could move there easily. It is horrible for a mother not to know where her child is. You are my last hope. I addressed your show and Mrs. Nikolouli because I trust you and I believe that you will find the edge”, she said on the camera of the show, a few days before she received the shocking answers about her child.
“We want to find out what happened to our Dionysis…”
“I started worrying about my child when he did not call me for wishes at my name-day. Since then, I initiated the proceedings and reported the disappearance to the authorities. I was trying to call him, but his cell phone was turned off. He was not indifferent; he would never let me worry. We just want to know if he is alright. I cannot live with this anxiety,” his mother told the Tunnel, at an emotional state. Shortly afterwards, she was informed of the tragedy that struck her home.
In a communication that the show had with the Greek Consulate in Frankfurt, which had jurisdiction, they replied that their role is procedural and it stops in giving the family the death certificate.
