The fire, which, despite the rain, “ate” the tiles and exceeded the height of the farmhouse, was seen by a resident of a nearby village.
When the fire brigade arrived, the shepherd’s house had been completely destroyed. Himself was nowhere to be found…
Lambis Fronimos, 73, has been missing since late February from his home in Ano Rizospilia, near Dimitsana.
On the morning of Friday February 28th the postman went to his home, where he was living alone to hand over the pension, but he could not find it. After six in the afternoon the thriller was revealed…
A close-up search found that the goats and his dog were missing.
IMPORTANT TESTIMONIES DURING THE NIGHT…
During the broadcast, testimonies from villagers were mentioning his animals had returned to the area, removing the version of the killing for animal theft. However, information received from other witnesses referred to a suspicious car seen in the area after the fire. Significant are the things that the shepherd himself had told his friend for a man who had threatened him.
Tunnel’s investigation has shown that Fronimos had previously quarreled with his fellow villagers about the damage caused by his animals and had pending litigation against them.
The “Tunnel” identified the shepherd who had previously hit the animal and left him tied and helpless in a deserted area.
“In the past I had hit and tied him…”
The shepherd and fellow villager of the missing man spoke to Tunnel’s camera about the differences they had in the past.
“He was throwing stones at me from far away, I grabbed him and then let him go, but he kept throwing stones at me. I grabbed him again, hit him three or four times in the face and tied him. This happened several years ago. But lately we had solved our differences. He could set his house on fire and go somewhere to commit suicide,” the witness said.
They burned the shepherd’s house and vanished him?
The nephew of the missing Charalambos Fronimos, speaks in the “Tunnel” of childhood memories he had with his uncle, of the strange circumstances under which he disappeared, and of the fire in his home.
“Research has been done by a team of EMAK, and they have searched with specially trained dogs, but to no avail. We don’t know what might have happened to him. There are many questions that concern us, especially with the fire that was caused. One cannot be so lost from one moment to another. Something has been done. We know how things are in the villages with the farmers. He had disagreements with some people, but you don’t get the point to take away a life,” he said.
They saw the flames burning the house…
The brother of the missing shepherd spoke to the “Tunnel” from the completely burnt home of the missing person.
“After the death of our parents, my brother was the only one of the six siblings who decided to stay here alone. The postman came at his home, shouted at him, did not find him and left. A woman who saw the flames informed my nephew of the fire. The flame was over the height of the house and the roof had collapsed. The house caught on fire in a strange way and I suspect it has something to do with his disappearance,” he said.
“I saw Lambi’s house burning and he was nowhere to be found…”
The tunnel identified and spoke with the eyewitness who saw the flames in the missing person’s home and informed the police and fire department.
“At first I saw a smoke and I imagined they were burning something. But then we saw the fire with my husband thickening, becoming a big fiery mushroom, despite the rain. We informed his nephew because we understood that his uncle’s house had been set on fire,” she said.
“I went to give him the money for the pension, but he wasn’t there…”
Tunnel spoke to the postman who had gone to the missing man’s house to hand over the pension.
“I knocked his doorbell, but he didn’t open. One of the doors was chained. Because I was scared that something might have happened, I looked around for him if he had fallen somewhere, but I found nothing. For the last one or two years of receiving the pension, he was always at home to receive it. I didn’t see fire or something strange and then I left,” the witness told Tunnel.
“I’m afraid of criminal activity…”
“There are few people in the village, they are old and when it gets dark, they are locked up in their homes out of fear of getting robbed. In the past my brother had been robbed twice,” George Fronimos told Tunnel.
“After his disappearance, the goats and his dog were lost along with him. It is strange how the fire was caused as the day was rainy. I am afraid he has fallen victim of criminal activity,” he concluded.
“He had been robbed in the past twice…”
“No one can exclude the possibility of criminal activity. This is the most worrying thing for my village, but also for the surrounding villages. It is the first time here that a man’s house is burned down and he disappears,” the village president, where the missing person lived, told Tunnel’s camera.
“Lambis had been a victim of robbery twice before. They had hit him badly and they had taken everything away from him,” he concluded.
