For the first time, the son of the unfortunate Vassilis Kokkinis, 63 years old, and his Bulgarian mother, sentenced to life, was found in the courtroom.
The 18-year-old man traveled from Bulgaria where he lives and testified before the Court and the Prosecutor about the murder that shocked everyone and was revealed in January 2016. He stressed that the victim’s behavior towards him was not the best since he had a problem with alcohol, while for his mother he said that “I forgive her”.
When asked about what happened that day in the apartment of Kallithea, he replied that he has no idea as he does not remember what happened. His testimony was interrupted after a juror felt unwell, resulting in the interruption of the hearing. The trial is set to begin on Wednesday, June 1. In the case raised by “Tunnel”, the victim’s ex-wife had been sentenced at first instance to life imprisonment for the crime of intentional homicide in a calm state of mind. Respectively, another young Bulgarian woman was found guilty of 18 years in prison for the act of simple complicity in murder. A Romanian man who was later arrested and sentenced to 14 years in prison for complicity is also sitting on the bench.
He was recognized as the alleviator of his former honest life. The crime took place in January 2015 and his body was discovered a year later, in the freezer of his ex-wife’s apartment in Kallithea.
