Eighteen years after the disappearance of the elderly woman, the Investigator of Volos prosecuted for intentional homicide Kontoulis’ “friend” and businessman in Almyros, Volos. The development comes just a few weeks after his conviction for the same case by the Five-Member Criminal Court of Larissa. He was found guilty of the crime of inciting forgery and was sentenced to five years in prison, converted to five euros a day. In the same case, two of his co-accused, a businessman and a doctor, were sentenced to four and three-and-a-half years in prison, respectively.
The businessman apologized on the occasion of the new prosecution he is facing and, according to information, denied any involvement.
It should be recalled that, as part of the interrogation that had started in 2019, last December excavations were carried out in a private chapel built by the accused. At that time, nothing was found that would lead to the traces of Kontouli.
The case file was forwarded to the Volos Prosecutor’s Office for a proposal to the Council for Criminal Procedure, which will have the last word for referring the accused to trial or not.
The businessman was released after his apology with the restrictive conditions of being banned from leaving the country and appearing at the relevant police station at regular intervals.
Ballet teacher Marianna Kontouli disappeared at the age of 70 in the summer of 2002 from Amaliapoli, Magnesia, where she lived for the last years. Before her disappearance, she was isolated by relatives and friends, while after her mysterious disappearance, the “Tunnel” revealed power of attorney documents, which seem to have been in the possession of various people, including her “friend”. As revealed by the special forensic graphologist Maria – Magda Kampouri, these documents were forged. With these proxies, Kontouli’s property was vanished and a feather despite the fact that she herself was useless.
