He is only 22 years old. He couldn’t stand the shadows and silence after his father’s mysterious disappearance and became a detective himself.
Fotis Kariophyllas entered dangerous paths to find the truth about the mysterious disappearance of his father, who some people seem to have buried there in their city, Argos.
It set the cyber world in motion, revealing the backstory and the circuits running rampant in the region.
He lived his adolescence in pain, since in the space of five years, his grandfather, who loved him and took care of him, his mother and then his father passed away.
The “Tunnel” responded to the child’s wish and investigated this strange case for the second time, with the missing 43-year-old Christos Kariofillas. He disappeared on May Day 2015, from Argos where he lived.
He was facing health problems and before he disappeared, he had revealed to someone that he was being threatened.
A person who knows people and things spoke on the show and mentioned in detail what he saw happening with the missing person in a certain place.
“I saw someone else enter where he was…”
“I saw Christos suffering in a certain area. He was on the bike, but I don’t think he saw me. A familiar car got there and then I learned that Christos had disappeared. The **** who was in the car definitely saw him and knows what happened. I believe they have eaten him and thrown him somewhere,” said the witness, speaking to “Tunel”.
The despairing voice of the son searching for the truth…
“I will continue until I find the end. Whatever it is,” declares the only son of the missing Christos Kariofillas determinedly to the “Tunnel” camera. All these years he has not lost hope and continues to search for him in any way he can, especially through the internet.
“I am constantly posting on social media and on Ms. Nikolouli’s Facebook and other groups to make his disappearance more widely known,” emphasizes Fotis, but he points out that to date no important testimony has been brought to him. “They tell me not to lose hope, to always try, that God gives me strength and that we learn the truth soon to be redeemed.”
Fotis’ last shocking post was on January 3. He specifically wrote:
“In this struggle I am waging, I know that the same people who threatened my father, gangs active in the Argolida region and corrupt **** will also target me because I am looking for the truth. The police for seven years have been inactive and indifferent about my case. I will continue until the end, whatever it is.”
“I imagine him coming home…”
The missing man’s only son, Fotis Kariophyllas, told “Tunnel”:
“It was a big shock for me. I live with the image of the door of our house opening and my father walking in. This gives me hope and will.”
The mother of the missing man and grandmother of Fotis explains that she has lived all these years with anxiety and hope.
In her own pain over the disappearance of her son, but also the loss of her husband and daughter-in-law, she has given her whole being to raising her grandson, which she describes as a “gift from God”.
“My grandmother is my support. If it wasn’t for her, I might be in an institution,” says Fotis.
Vasiliki Kariophylla, supporting her grandson, appeals to anyone who knows what happened to Christos not to be afraid and to speak up to end this torture that has been going on for years.
“Here they say that someone… killed Christos”
“Tunnel” during the search for witnesses to the disappearance of Christos Kariophyllas in Argos, met his friend Giorgos Dertis, who speaks with emotion about the Golgotha that his son and mother are climbing.
He describes him as a good boy, peaceful, a tough fighter who fought, but when his wife got sick and died, he got sick too. “He lost the ground under his feet,” he says.
“I was in a tavern in Achladokampos and someone said that Christos was there on May Day with a group and disappeared when he left the shop.”
For all that is heard in the village that maybe someone “killed” him and disappeared, his friend appreciates that he did not have big confrontations with anyone, nor a lot of money.
“I am moved by Fotakos’ fight, as his father used to call him,” says Christos’ friend. “He adored his child. Everything about Fotakos”.
He appeals to anyone who knows something to speak up.
“He was here with his girlfriend and a couple…”
The “Tunnel” located and spoke to the owner of the tavern in Achladokampos, where the missing person was found on the afternoon of the day he went missing.
“He was in my shop that day with another man. George the *****. They were sitting outside in the corner. They also had two girls together. I remember it specifically because because of May Day, we had a party here. It was a mess. It was about five or six in the afternoon. And I even remember that he left and said that the other person in his company would pay. I think he left with his girlfriend before nightfall. I don’t remember anything else. I wish I could help. His mother also takes me and cries. I wish I knew where the boy is…”, said the witness.
“We weren’t at the tavern that day…”
The heart friend of the missing man talks about the relationship he had at that time with a woman, but he also answers those who say she was with him the day he disappeared.
“I saw Christos a week or ten days before he disappeared. We had passed by Achladokampos for a walk. It is not true that on the May Day that he disappeared we were together in the tavern in that village. We had been to this tavern on May Day, but two or three years ago,” he says.
“Many things are being said here in Argolis. That he has been killed, that he has been kidnapped, others that he has fled abroad. My guess is they have wiped him out. Now who? Do not know”.
“Was he in the wrong place at the wrong time?”
His son is afraid that something bad has happened, because if he was well he would communicate both with him and with his grandmother, since they were a close family.
“I’m making efforts. I meet my father’s acquaintances and ask them what happened that day, how he disappeared. It is better to know that he is dead, than to have the agony”, confesses Fotis.
Vasiliki saw her son for the last time on May Day Eve. “I haven’t seen him since.” On the same day, they saw Christos advancing towards the Mills. He passed by a friend of his and told him that he would go a little further down and come back for coffee. He never came back.”
The mother of the missing person, who has stood by her grandson and for so many years of anxiety about what exactly happened to her son, makes an appeal through the show:
“Speak up guys. Speak up. Anyone who knows, speak up.”
It does not rule out the possibility that her son was found at the wrong time, in the wrong place and disappeared.
“He was a perfect child. He had his own business, making fields. He was fighting it and trying. He loved us. To be found whatever it is, however it is.”
Christos Kariophyllas is 1.70 tall and if he were alive today, he would be 50 years old.
A Silver Alert has been issued for his disappearance, following a prosecutor’s order.
