The gears of time started working again and awoke memories and fear when on Friday, October 17th first “Tunnel” broadcast the news that her father escaped from prison.
Spiros Kavadias 58 year old today, , on September 3rd , requested and got a few days permission from the rural prison at Agia Chania prisons, but never returned.
He is the man who shocked the country when as revealed by Tunnel ” he commied two murders with victims women who loved him.
A few years ago, Tanias murder , he murdered his Swiss girlfriend at a center of abused women where she was. With forged documents he arrived in Greece and met Charitopoulou, his second victim.
With her methodical investigation Angeliki Nikolouli found the macabre evidence in their bathroom. Spiros Kavadias sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Tania, but never confessed his actions and the body of 27-year old mother was never found. He was convicted for lifetime of imposed for the murder of her Swiss girlfriend.

“Tunnel” utilizing important information, located the woman Spiros Kavadias stated in prison that she would housed him during his few days permission of the prison.
According to what she said, she hosted Kavvadias at her house for two days in a previous permission one year ago. Since then she has not seen him , nor she has been in telephone contact with him.
She described him as a man that has not changed a lot in how he appears . The only difference is that he is wearing spectacles and he is thinner.

One and a half months after the alleged disappearance of Tania Charitopoulou in October 1998, Angeliki Nikolouli moved the research where others have stopped.
Along with Tanias relatives entered the house she was living with Spyros Kavvadias and their three year old little girl, in Polihni Thessaloniki. The apartment had been thoroughly investigated by the Police. However, her instinct and experience led her to a new research and the camera was an irrefutable witness. In the bathroom of the apartment were hiding pieces of the macabre puzzle that were not detected by the Police. At the shower and toilet were dark marks initially appreciated by the owner as slag. As revealed from the forensic laboratories, the “slag” was blood and human tissue from the body of Tania!
Following these revelations the tangle of the case began to unfold. Testimonials from the neighborhood spoke of intense fights between the couple at the night of the murder. On that fateful night the voices of Tania for help were heard for hours and the next day neighbors saw Kavvadias leaving with his car and carrying large bags.
In her initial statement to the police, the sister of Kabbadias, , described the first picture she saw at the apartment and what Kavadias who visited her immediately after the murder told her. When she went at the house in Polihni, the place was a mess, milk splashed on the walls and there was spoiled food in the pots. In the bathroom she had seen one orange diving suit and a knife with a bent blade of heavy use with dark spots on it. The important point, however, at her the initial statement came from the couple’s young daughter. Her three year old niece then, with the innocence of her age, describe to her the image she saw the night of the murder. Mom and dad were playing hide and seek. Suddenly her dad pushed her against the wall and she fell down. Then daddy took her to bed, put a pillow on her face and mom slept.
Kavvadias then told his sister: “She wanted to leave me and take the child. I did it… Even in two hundred years pass, they will not find her… “. The sister shortly after he took back what she had said in her original statement and changed everything…
Nikolouli met Kavvadias in prison
On January 28, 1999 “Light at the Tunnel” presented the much-discussed interview which Angeliki Nikolouli took from the perpetrator at the Prison of Diavata. Spyros Kavvadia didnt know that the journalist would go there to meet him. He tried to her questions and with his answers he constantly was falling in contradictions. He showed no compassion for any of the two victims. On persistent questioning of Angeliki Nikolouli about his relationship with Tania Charitopoulou, Spiros Kavadias trying to weaken all the evidence brought to light by the investigation of the show. One accused her family, especially her brother and he was claiming that Tanya wanted to leave him for another man.
The show revealed the crimehe was committed in Switzerland. The victim was his previous girlfriend. According the Swiss police in 1993, Spiros Kavadias found that woman in battered women hostel. He took her from there with malice and shot her on the head. He managed, however disguised and used false documents to escape and came to Greece.
Kavvadias at the first court declared innocent. After appeal by the Prosecutor, followed second court which sentenced him to life imprisonment. In Greece he was f sentenced him to life imprisonment or the murder he committed in Switzerland. The victim was Nicole Kirchner.

Sixteen years after the heinous crime the only eyewitness broke her silence and opened her heart to Angeliki Nikolouli. Vaso Charitopoulou Kavvadia, 19 year old today, unfolded her memories which marked her life forever.
Her exclusive interview was shocking. She turned back in time and described at the journalist the scenes which indelibly imprinted her childhood soul. She talked about the fateful night she saw in front of her eyes her father murdering her mother. She remembers pushing hard her mother at the window and then throw her at a couch and taking away her life with a pillow on her face. She remembers her father after the murder to move her to another room. . She was only three year old. She captured the scene in a painting and gave it to the journalist. A proof that what she lived was not a figment of the imagination of a child.
She told Angeliki Nikolouli how her grandmother and grandfather stood next to her, how much gratitude she feels for those who, despite their great sorrow, took care of her. She said about her nightmares when he was a child, the cruelty of her schoolmates who mocked her because her mother wasnt by her side.
She talked about the day she tattooed on her hand the name of her mother without knowing that that day was her birthday. She revealed that she went to the house where the murder took place. Nothing had changed. Everything was as she remembered.
She told Angeliki Nikolouli that her father tried to approach her despite her refusal. Once he pretended he is a journalist and tried to persuade her that the whole story is construct of the media. With a letter she informed her that she has two sisters from his first marriage in Switzerland and asked her if she wants to come into contact with them.
The 19-year old today Vaso tries to spread her wings and live a beautiful and balanced life. Recently was her birthday. The only present she wants as she said is: “My father may fool the others but not me. I know what he did. All I want is to tell me where is my mother. ”
