Six whole years later, the case of the assassination of Thanassis Lambrou ended.
After a marathon trial that lasted 18 months, the widow of Captain D. V. was found guilty by a majority. The Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Nafplio convicted her of the murder of her husband. The sentence of life imprisonment imposed on her at first instance was upheld, as no mitigation was granted to her.
Both in the trial of the case in the Court of Appeals and in the first instance, Aggeliki Nikolouli submitted before the Court all the evidence from the “Tunnel’s” investigation, contributing to the performance of Justice.
The murderer was taken again to the Eleona Thebes women’s prison.
The chronicle of the case
Angeliki Nikolouli and her associates started the investigation after an appeal by the victim’s sister. The relatives of Thanasis Lambros from the first moment did not believe that the man committed suicide as the authorities initially claimed, but that he was killed.
The widow of the captain and his killer, according to Justice, appeared on the show appealing to find the perpetrator and with her own intervention a team of police officers from Athens participated in the investigation. Shortly afterwards, she confessed to the murder of her husband and while all her rights were known, she agreed to reveal everything that happened in the presence of a prosecutor. Shortly afterwards, she refused to sign her confession at the suggestion of a relative, which was accepted in court.
