“Tunnel” first reported the news that the lifer Spyros Kavadias 58 year old, escaped from prison. On September 3rd had requested and got a few days leave from rural prisons of Agia Chania, and never returned. “He left for revenge,” says today his friend and almost his victim.
His daughter Vasso, in an exclusive interview to Angeliki Nikolouli, had expressed fears for her family because they were threatened by Kavadias.
In August 1998 she saw her father murdering in cold blood her mother. The methodical investigation of Angeliki Nikolouli and the gruesome discoveries in their bathroom she brought to light, launched then the developments. Spyros Kavadias sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Tania Charitopoulou without ever confess his act and never found the corpse of 27-year old mother.

” Kavadias attacked me to kill me”
The friend of Kavvadias and almost his victim described at the camera of “Tunnel” the nightmarish moments he lived in his hands. All happened suddenly last October in Athens, when Kavadias and one abettor, set up a trap in the flats of his building.
The victim recognized Spiros Kavvadias although he was wearing scarf and hat to hide his face. He hit him with fury with a sledgehammer while his abettor nailed him with screwdriver.
The victim in an attempt to avoid the blows took a flashlight that was in his car, lit it and the neighbors realized that something was going on. The attackers fled and he chased them. Kavvadias got away but he managed to stop the other man. A passing taxi driver called the police and the abettor of Kavvadias arrested.

The exclusive interview of the daughter of Spiros Kavvadias Vaso, 16 years after the murder, to Angeliki Nikolouli riveted the viewers. She was the only eyewitness to a crime that marked her life forever. She unfurl at the journalist her memories of when her father murdered her mother Tanya Charitopoulou, in front of her eyes.
The research of “Tunnel” in the apartment where was played the thriller and the macabre discoveries, led the authorities to the arrest and conviction of Spyros Kavvadias. From the day it became known that Kavadias escaped and has not yet been arrested, his daughter and her relatives live with the anxiety. The fear is hidden in the words of his daughter: “he wants to kill us ..”

What the witness has revealed to Angeliki Nikolouli, is shocking. As he told the journalist he knows Spiros Kavvadias a long time and they used to be close friends. He argued that Kavadias said to him that he has been released legally and approached him to help him financially. He described him as a ruthless and coward man who often disguised by dying his hair, and always wants beside another person to achieve his purposes. His was feeling proud for murdering Nicole and Tania. He wanted to revenge them because they considered him as an incompetent. The truth about the crime was revealed by him to his friend, once he was drunk. He told him that he sliced Tania at the bathroom and threw her pieces in the trash.
According to the witness the Kavadias since he escaped he is moving somewhere in Athens.
The witness revealed Angeliki Nikolouli the obsession that Kavadias has with her. He thinks that she is responsible for his conviction and all these years he says that he wants to kill her! The words he used, are typical: “I do not argue, I kill …”.
