The 39-year-old, who was located and spoken by Angeliki Nikolouli, in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, is expected to be handed over to the Dutch authorities by Friday, September 17, following the issuance of an international arrest warrant for premeditated murder. According to his lawyer Vassilis Noulezas, he will resign from the right to appeal against his extradition to Greece. After settling pending matters concerning his current partner who is preparing to give birth to their child, he will voluntarily request to be transferred to Greece before the law enforcement authorities.
According to the wanted person, he is not hiding, no one has officially informed him that he is considered a suspect in the murder while he learned the tragic end of his 42-year-old partner from the journalist Angeliki Nikolouli. His lawyer made the following statement:
“I left for Romania because of my mother’s serious illness. I will apologize for the accusation that is unjustly attributed to me and I will prove my innocence. I will answer for everything in Justice. I will prove my innocence. That I am not the perpetrator of this horrible crime. I would never get to the point of killing. I learned about the disappearance and death of my ex-partner from the journalist Angeliki Nikolouli. I still can not realize it. I’m very sad. I’m shocked. ”
What he is expected to claim in the context of his defense is that he had severed ties with the victim in early January and had no contact until the end of February when she disappeared.
