In the amateur video sent by the witness and aired on the show, it appears where the unfortunate woman parked her car in Porto Lagos.
She parked it outside a house, hurriedly, and started running toward the nearby highway. At the end of the road she stopped, checked the traffic and crossed across the road towards Xanthi. The witness then heard the horn of the car, like someone made a signal to her and immediately afterward, a door opening. According to the witness the vehicle that stopped, was a Renault Laguna driven by a man.
A day later the witness noticed that the woman’s car had moved a little further, where finally was detected by the Authorities.
This testimony seems to confirm a resident of the region who spoke earlier to “Tunnel”. On the night of Thursday that Maria was lost, she heard another car stop and doors open and close.
In a live Skype connection with the show, the unfortunate woman’s daughter in law, reported that after the case was publicized, her ex-companion contacted her youngest son.
He called him and told him how he last talked to Maria last December. Then they had said to meet but that never happened. He said the reason why his children did not find him is because he has left Xanthi for personal reasons.
“The way she walked in the witness and the fact that she left her purse with money in the car makes us think that she was going to do something or go somewhere quickly and come back. It has been so many months and we are appealing to anyone who has seen something, to speak even anonymously, “the victim’s daughter in law, Fotini Paschalis, told Tunnel.
The family of Maria Halimiakidou filed a lawsuit against unknown at the Prosecutor of Xanthi.
The prosecutor sent the file to Xanthi Poice for additional pre-trial deeds, such as lifting privacy (telephone, electronic and banking) and supplementary and new testimonies.
Also, answers from the Greek Police Forensic Laboratories that were gathered from her car and from the objects that were in it, such as the two warm bottles with coffee, prints and traces of genetic materials, are expected.
Beautiful Maria was suddenly lost on Thursday, February 15th, by the hospital in Xanthi where she was working. Four days later, on Clean Monday, she was found drowned at the beach of Abdera under the chapel of St. John.
Her car of a gold Toyota Yaris was carefully parked and locked eighteen kilometers away, in Porto Lagos.
