Prosecution for serious crimes against the Municipality of Aegina and the driver of the garbage truck…

Nearly two and a half years after the tragic accident in Aegina, with the victims of two young people, which was brought to light by the “Tunnel”, there are important judicial developments.

“From the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Piraeus, we have a criminal prosecution for the crime of negligent homicide committed in a row and in spite of instability against the driver of the garbage truck of the Municipality of Aegina and against the deputy mayor in charge of technical works”, said the lawyer of the mother of the unfortunate Christos Koumpenas. He stated that the “Tunnel” investigation played an important role in the development of the case.

“Through your two TV shows, from the information provided in the case file by the technical expert of traffic accidents, Mr. Madias, appointed by the prosecutor, but also from affidavits taken in the process, we are now justified. Those who tried to file the case did not succeed. Persons and services will be called upon to provide answers for the concealment and distortion of evidence. If there were no footage from your show and if the prosecutor only read some fabricated documents, we would not have this result today.”

Sotiria Koumpena, mother of one of the two victims, gave a huge fight all this time.

“I thank the Justice Department for taking the case very quickly. Thank you and Mrs. Nikolouli for your help. Not that I win anything, but now I feel a satisfaction for the memory of the two children who left unjustly”, she stressed at an emotional state.

Christos Koumpenas, shortly before he turned 18, lost his life in a car accident in the early hours of Wednesday, March 24, 2019 on the Provincial Road Aegina – Perdika, at the height of Marathon. He was a co-driver on a two-wheeled motorcycle, driven by his 20-year-old friend, who was also killed. A few months earlier, his father had passed away suddenly.
