Homicide officials say the motive for the brutal murder of 38-year-old Chinese woman Qiu Yun Lin, whose body was found in a suitcase on December 29, 2020, in a forest area in the Kaza area of Vilia, Attica, was twofold. She had been declared missing on October 19, 2020 at the Omonia Security Department.
She had confessed to her friends that the 47-year-old compatriot approached her erotically but she did not want a relationship with him. He had a family, was wealthy and had come to Greece with his family, while he had obtained a “golden visa” after the big purchase of a property in which he lived.
However, a robbery against him by his compatriots who snatched 50,000 euros from him and his passion for gambling, a common passion with the victim, destroyed him financially and so he came to borrow interest from Lin, 10,000 euros which he did not return.
She used to lend interest to her compatriots, in addition to gambling, and the authorities believe that the victim’s non-fulfillment of his sexual desires and the debt that he could not fulfill himself, led to her murder, possibly with a suffocating death, since autopsy on her body could not draw safe conclusions while he refuses to say anything.
He then placed her half-naked body in a suitcase and took her to the area of Kaza Vilion where he threw her at the edge of the forest, where he was found at the end of December by walkers.
The police considered him the main suspect for the crime, from the very first time as he had fallen into many contradictions in his testimony, such as for example that he did not even know the area where the suitcase was found and had never been there.
But when the results of the telephone communications came out, the police found out not only the conversations and appointments they made to go to the Parnitha casino in those days, but also the location of the mobile phone on his phone, in the area of Vilia, a few days after the disappearance of the victim.
Following a warrant issued against him, the 47-year-old was located and arrested on Wednesday, May 18, and with the case against him, he was taken to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
