“I saw the murderous attack on Valyrakis…”

The “Tunnel” shed light on the much acclaimed case of Sifis Valyrakis and captivated the viewers.

An eyewitness of the “murderous attack” against the former minister and historical executive of PASOK, put aside his fear, broke his silence and revealed on the show everything he saw in the sea area of Eretria.

He was on the Island of Dreams and saw a professional fishing boat approaching the inflatable of Sifis Valyrakis.

“Valyrakis was going fishing at that time, while the professional fishing boat was coming. They argued. There was an intense dialogue between them: “Get up and leave”. At that time, amateurs were not allowed to fish. They made two turns around his boat at high speed causing big waves and one of them hit him with a pole. He managed to hit him two or three times. Immediately afterwards, they left”, the witness said.

“I identified the perpetrators of the murder”

The team of “Tunnel” traveled to Evia to meet the man, where as he claims, he saw the murder of former minister Sifis Valyrakis.

According to his testimony, he was about one hundred and fifty meters away from the place where the incident took place and, as he said, he identified the perpetrators.

“This was a murderous move. It is a murder”, the witness emphasized. When asked by the journalist if he recognized the fishermen who attacked him, he answered affirmatively.

“Another fisherman had been hit in the past with a wooden crate on the head because he was fishing,” the witness said. He also revealed that the baker, who is also a witness to the attack, was threatened with financial destruction.

According to him, the fishing boat with the perpetrators did not have a GPS locator, but from the port they knew what time the boat entered and what time it left. “Let them even say the reason, why they did it.”

The witness told “Tunnel” that he is willing to testify to the Authorities, but not to the Coast Guard of the area.

Valyrakis’ inflatable boat was found on an unguarded plot, abandoned, in a place where anyone could have access, while it should be kept until the investigations are completed. In it remain his personal belongings, his uniform and his snorkels.

The family’s lawyers have filed an indictment for breach of duty of the Coast Guard.

Manolis Fotakis, lawyer of the Sifis Valyraki family, from the studio of the show said:

“The testimony of the witness is shocking. Our legal team will ensure his safety. His testimony confirmed what we claim from the first moment, that Sifi’s death was not an accident as they said, but a murder.”

In a telephone communication with the show, the brother-in-law of the unfortunate former minister, Athanasios Papatheodorou, stressed:

“This testimony is shocking and well done to the man who found the courage to reveal the truth. All this time we have been faced with incredible situations in Eretria, because the authorities there wanted to downplay the case.”

Sifis Valyrakis was found dead in the sea area of Eretria on Sunday, January 24. The professor of forensic medicine, Chara Spiliopoulou, technical consultant of the family, spoke about multiple injuries to his body. She also reported a hematoma on his head that could have been caused by an oar, a hit that matches what the witness reported.
