The unlucky port worker, who lived alone on Irini Street, was found brutally murdered inside his house by his own son on Tuesday, June 14.
This case, which at first seemed “easy” according to the authorities, “froze” along the way for some reason. The stagnation of the investigations has angered the victim’s son, Vangelis Karyotis, who spoke to “Tunnel”.
“Why don’t they catch my father’s killer…”
“I can’t understand why the police still haven’t found my father’s killer. So many months have passed and we are in a very bad psychological state. Although it is an easy solution, as the Rhodes Police officers said from the beginning, they still haven’t found anything,” he said.
“He was a peaceful person, who never bothered anyone,” he emphasized. “He was in the yard of his house doing garden work and suddenly, one afternoon when I went to see him, I found him dead. No one so far has come to inform us about anything. I am here, I am not hiding from anyone and I have nothing to fear. We will not allow the case to be dropped.”
With rage choking him, he continued:
“After my interview on the show, the police were mobilized. I doubt they are doing their job properly. I believe that valuable time has been wasted.”
“I cannot conceive that it could have been done by one of the relatives, as they say. The killer is still on the loose. We may have him by our side and not know him. I’m keeping my hands up for whatever happens from now on…”, he concluded with indignation.
“They vandalized my father’s grave…”
In connection via Skype, the journalist Mary Foti from the newspaper “Demokratiki”, gave a completely different picture. According to its report, the Rhodes Police are continuing their investigations and are on the right track.
Vangelis Karyotis intervened by phone and reported a new incident that occurred. As he claimed, strangers broke into his father’s grave, a funerary decoration he had made in his memory. In fact, he also sent the relevant photographic document to “Tunnel”.
Giorgos Karyotis was found with his hands tied with cords from his ankles, while there was a thick rope noose around his neck.
