The prosecutor initially stressed that the trial was extremely difficult. He reportedly suggested guilty of the eight indictees and the acquittal of one.
The hearing of the case began last February, and now seems to go to completion. The delay is due to the attitude of the witnesses, who either suffered “amnesia” or did not want to testify.
The prosecutor described Vangelis Giakoumakis as a quiet and polite child. He described the group of Cretans as a “gang” and asked for the rejection of allegations that what they did to the unfortunate student was in a joke.
The nine Cretans who sit in the dock are accused of the martyrdom that Vangelis Giakoumakis has suffered because of them.
They are accused of causing dangerous personal injuries jointly and continuously. All defendants did not attend to any of the hearings, making use of their right.
The indictment describes at least 25 incidents of violence against the unfortunate student of the Dairy School of Ioannina.
The process was interrupted and will continue with the speakers ‘defendants’ speeches.
