The accident in which the 26-year-old law student Dimitris Sotiriou lost his life was not just a simple car accident.
Some seem to have set a scenery to cover a crime.
On Friday 20 April, the show presented material of CCTV s collected by the unfortunate young man relatives from the point where he lost his life.
In this it is clear that the young student turned his course when a beam of light from a car which was hidden, blinded him!
Konstantinos Karapanos, a technical adviser appointed by the family, demonstrated with his research the involvement of two other vehicles.
Many viewers from Kavala and from abroad were mobilized to help.
Witness told Angeliki Nikolouli that he met Dimitris at the bar where he was having fun. She said he was with two friends, he did not drink any alcohol and soon he left.
From other testimonies it was revealed that outside of the bar he was found, there was a wild fight. The police did not investigate this information, nor did others , since the case it was treated as a traffic incident.
A witness who knows people and things, spoke to “Tunnel” from the point where the unfortunate young man lost his life and his testimony gives a new dimension to the case.
Those days a gang broke in the nearby shops, close to spot of the detour of the car, they removed large quantities of batteries and industrial ironmongers.
After these revelations, the fake scenario of the car accident was shattered and the research is now heading in a new direction.
The family of the unfortunate young man will file a suit against unknown for manslaughter. The case has been “frozen” for months now at the Kavala Prosecutor’s Office.
Dimitris Sotiriou, 26, a resident of Eleftheroupolis, was found dead on the morning of May 3, 2017, on the 52nd kilometer of Kavala – Amphipolis National Road. Since then, a Calgary has begun for his parents who turned themselves into detectives to find out what really happened to their child.
Here was played out the thriller with the student
Expert Konstantinos Karapanos, who was appointed by the family, was found with Tunnel’s camera at the place where the tragedy occurred.
“Dimitris was driving his car from Kavala to Eleftheroupolis. At the point of deflection there was a curvature that continued straight. A beam of light suddenly lit by a car that was on his right, forced him to slip sideways and turned left. The police recorded a twenty-foot sliding sketch, “he said.
According to the expert, the estimated driving speed developed by Dimitris was 115 kilometers per hour.
“Assuming that the young man was asleep would have left his course at the beginning of the curve of the road as he could not control the car. In addition, the motion of the car was in front and in the event of losing control, he would leave to the right. Once the driver reacted, he accepted a risk. The danger has been, it is evident in the material recorded by the cameras and for this reason Dimitris headed to the left, “he said.
According to his estimation, in some way the car was blocked and overturned. Also the drivers of the two other cars according to the material recorded by the CCTVs, were found to have been waiting for him, did not react and did not notify the authorities and abandoned the unfortunate young man.
Tunnel’s camera recorded frame-by-frame document that eliminates the possibility of a road accident and leads the investigations for the case of Dimitris Sotiriou to a completely different direction.
In the material gathered by the family on its own initiative and analyzed by the expert, it seems clear that about an hour before the tragic event, an unknown car enters a private business park. Its lights facing the road turn off when it stops. In the material, the course of Dimitris’ car is distinguished. As he passes in front of the immobilized vehicle, his driver suddenly lights up, Dimitris is blinded, steeply turns the steering wheel and deflects his way to the left.
Another camera records a few seconds later another vehicle in the opposite direction, for sure its driver saw the deflection of the vehicle of Dimitris. It moves at a slow speed, stops at the point, lights up, somebody is passing of the rear lights of the car, control the deflection area, comes back, get in the car and leaves without speed. His guide did not notify either the police.
About a quarter after the event, the vehicle, which without any obvious reason cast the light beam on Dimitris and pulled him out of the way, leaves the parking lot at low speed and leaves to Eleftheroupoli without stopping at the tipping area.
«We want the truth…»
“It’s not a simple accident,” Thanasis Sotiriou told Tunnel, speaking from where his son lost his life. He is convinced that something more is hidden behind the tragic incident that he drowned his family in sorrow
“We searched the cameras of all the facilities in the area. Some people helped us and some did not. We have succeeded and found a significant material to be assessed. I cannot know who and why he would want to hurt him. We ask to know the truth … “he said clearly excited.
The reporter of “Tunnel” spoke with the man who briefed the Authorities shortly after six in the morning.
The aqueduct employee who is just across the diversion point said that his colleague had just finished his shift and left when he saw Demetris’ car. He told him to come closer to see what had happened, for he was afraid of the health problems he faced. When he went to the spot, he saw the body of the unfortunate young man out of the car on the ground and immediately alerted the Traffic Police.
As he explained, it would be impossible for someone who worked at that time in the aqueduct to realize what was going on outside the street due to the heavy machine noise.
« Dimitris is not gone, he is with us…»
In the bedroom of Dimitris, time seems to have frozen … Photos, souvenirs and clothes carefully hanging as if to wear them …
His mother Eleni still cannot believe he passed away so early before he fulfilled his dreams.
He described him as an open-hearted and social young man with ethos, who has been actively involved in sports since a young age. An injury prevented him from joining the Gymnastics Academy and decided to study at the Law School. Social and independent spirit, alongside his studies, he worked occasionally as a waiter.
Tragic Irony: The day he lost his life had stopped from his last job to rest before he started his summer work.
That fatal dawn his parents had woken up anxious because he had not returned home. They called him on the phone but it was turned off. They believed he had slept with a friend in Kavala.
When early morning called his father from the Traffic Police to report to him that a serious crash had occurred, time stopped.
“Until we got to the hospital I was hoping to be seriously injured and not dead …” said the tragic mother.
Parents began to look for the conditions under which Dimitris lost his life.
As long as they were looking they were far away from the possibility of an accident.
“The police did not examine the material we found from CCTVs. Then we decided to move legally. The case is in the Prosecutor’s Office and is in progress. All we ask is to know the truth about our child, “she said excitedly.
