An overturn that only one movie scenario encounters.
Ioanna Chatzimanolaki, 28, a mother of three children, suddenly left her house in Menidi on the morning of Tuesday, April 25, 2017, and lived all these days in forest like an animal. The disappearance was noticed by her husband when he woke up and did not find her. Both he and her relatives went out on the streets trying to find her.
Her mobile phone, her electronic cigarette, her identity card and her keys, were found in the house, and everyone’s mind went to evil.
Thanks to the disclosure of the disappearance from Tunnel, special escorts of the EMAK rescue team with trained dogs searched the mountain of Menidi. Volunteers took part in the efforts with Ioanna’s siblings. But no one found her in the forest where she was hiding.
The fruitless efforts combined with the revelation that the mother had been hosted at a Guest House of Abused Women for three months, turned the investigations into her close family environment.
Her husband speaking to “Tunnel” acknowledged that many people saw on his face the culprit of the disappearance but he constantly maintained that his wife left alone because of the health problems she was facing.
She was eating leaves of shrubs!
In the anguish of all those who sought her, Ioanna was put to an end twenty days after her disappearance. At dawn on Monday, May 15, 2017, the young woman struck out of the door of her father’s house in Menidi. Her sister who opened did not believe in her eyes. In front of her stood dirty, visibly tortured but alive, Ioanna.
As she told her relatives all this time, she was alone on the mountain and hiding inside a large bush to keep her cool. She claimed to have stayed there for days and did not find the strength to return from the panic attacks she was experiencing.
She had been able to fill some empty bottles with water while she was being fed by garbage that she found in the rubbish and with leaves.
Her sister told Angeliki Nikolouli all that Ioanna experienced during the days she was missing.
The young woman claimed that at some point she began to descend the mountain until she arrived at her father’s house. Then the blur in her mind broke up as this image was the only one she recognized.
