The “doctor” Elias Mazarakis, who had to die in order for the authorities to finally locate him, lived in the apartment building on Velissariou Street in Nea Smyrni for at least the last two years.
According to police sources, he had rented the apartment as Apostolos Filippas. Police searched the area and found a large number of cell phones with “Pakistani” numbers which he apparently used to avoid detection and is expected to be declassified.
No other IDs or passports were found, nor anything that connected him with the murder of Nikolaidis – Kalathakis or with other illegal actions. Impressive is the fact that not even money was found in the apartment.
His girlfriend claimed that she had been in a relationship with him for the past two years and had no idea who the real identity of this man was. He had been introduced to her as Akis while she does not know if she worked somewhere. He was admitted to the Hippocratic Hospital under the name Vassilios Tassioulas. According to the police investigation, he is a real person as Mazarakis was using the AMKA which refers to the specific name. The police are looking for this person to see what he had to do with Mazarakis and how he used his own data.
The investigation continues to find out where Mazarakis was all these years, who was also wanted by Interpol. In the apartment building, his neighbors present him as a peaceful, quiet man with a low profile who had never created a problem. He was regular and formal in his duties.
