This man accidentally detected a human skull between two rocks. In a shocked state, he called on the Police and soon a group of men from the Police Department of Eretria and Chalkida investigated the case.
The point where the skull was found was on a rough hill a few meters below a dirt road in the 4th kilometer of the Eretria-Theologos District Road, in Evia.
The police officers then found a few feet away from the skull, under an olive tree, a human skeleton possibly belonging to a woman, as she wore a dark dress and a pair of ladies’ boots with heels.
Several of the bones were scattered, indicating that there was wildlife activity, while the appearance of the bones gave the impression that perhaps more than three years had passed since the body was there since they were wholly white and old.
Because of the way the body was found, the Authorities are investigating the case with the possibility of a criminal act, since with this clothing it would be practically impossible for a woman to go accidentally to such a mountainous and inaccessible place.
The skeleton was transferred to the Forensic Service of the University of Athens for further anthropological examination and analysis in order to draw as many conclusions as possible about gender, age, time and way of death.
At the same time, DNA will be taken to identify the body with possible cases of missing and sought after persons.
