Barbara Theodoraki, nine years after the abduction and murder of her son Mario in August 2012, is still waiting for answers about where her child is buried. Although the main defendant has been convicted and the judicial authorities have prosecuted nine more persons who are alleged to be accomplices, the investigation has “swamped” in the office of the 1st regular investigator.
It is worth noting that her case was assigned in December 2020. The lawyer of the victim’s family, Nikos Roussopoulos, submitted a report of protest for the stagnation of the investigation regarding the accomplices in the murder of the young man.
According to the decision of the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Athens, the documents of the trial had been sent to the prosecutor in order to prosecute other persons who, as it emerged during the trial, were involved in the murder of the unfortunate Mario. The report of a Canadian investigator, which was compiled at the request of the civil suit, according to which Marios Papageorgiou was abducted and then killed, has been submitted to the interrogation, while his body was transported to the Geraneia Mountains, before the perpetrators disappear.
The list of the nine accused includes the sons of the mastermind of the case, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment both at first instance and in the Court of Appeal. His wife, who had been sentenced at first instance to 18 years in prison for conspiracy to attempt extortion and kidnapping, has also been prosecuted and is now facing the charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
