Giorgos suddenly disappeared at noon on Tuesday, May 30, while he was expected to report to Poros, at the Navy classification center for his military service.
Emotion was caused by his personal story with the repeated tragedies that had struck him. A few days ago, his father, a maritime professor, died at the age of 58. A year before, he had lost both of his beloved grandfathers within two days.
The sensitive merchant marine sub-captain had recently been withdrawn and preferred to spend his time in his room playing games on the internet. On the day he went missing, 28-year-old George would have traveled from the island to Piraeus and then to Poros.
A missing alert had been issued for his disappearance and the “Tunnel” was looking for him on the island with the help of volunteers.
